Up in Smoke Smoke Testing performs both Clean Truck Check test types for eligible heavy-duty diesel vehicles: smoke-opacity testing with the Vehicle Emissions Control Equipment Inspection, and OBD testing by direct computer download. We come to your shop, yard, farm, jobsite or fleet location.

Testing happens at your location, so one vehicle or a full fleet can be tested without sending trucks across town.

The customer must have the vehicle present, safely accessible and at normal operating temperature before the scheduled test. The tester confirms that the vehicle is ready before beginning the procedure.

Diesel vehicles with 2012-and-older engine model years are generally assigned a smoke-opacity test and Vehicle Emissions Control Equipment Inspection. Diesel vehicles with 2013-and-newer engine model years are generally assigned an OBD test. Up in Smoke Smoke Testing performs both test types on site.

Two Services, Priced Separately
OBD testing is $100 per vehicle with a $250 minimum service call. Smoke-opacity fleet testing starts at $150 per vehicle. Travel is included within 100 miles.

Vehicles subject to semiannual testing generally demonstrate compliance every six months. Qualifying agricultural vehicles and certain California-registered motorhomes may have annual testing requirements. Always use the test type and due date shown in CTC-VIS.
